AGSBAAI Membership Card Renewal

Unless you have decided to get the lifetime membership card, the membership card you are currently carrying is an annual card and is valid only for one year.  The expiry date is indicated on the card itself and we do not wish you to encounter an unpleasant situation of presenting an expired card to avail of any of its benefits.  We do not have a systematic way of reminding you or automatically replacing your expired card.  Allow two months before the expiry date to arrange for a card replacement by first settling the membership fee.  Incidentally, the replacement card will no longer be an annual card.  We now call it the regular card at P1,000 and it is valid for three years.  You may also wish to take this opportunity to switch to lifetime membership by paying P2,000 (valid until July 31, 2010) or P2,500 thereafter.  For more details on your options and the procedure for renewal, please go to the Membership Card section of this website.  Direct your inquiries on membership card renewal to us at agsbaai@aps.ateneu.edu.

 FOR MBA DEGREE SEEKERS

We reiterate the school’s call to MBA students who were unable to graduate because they have not completed the academic requirements and/or were unsuccessful in preparing/defending a Thesis or Strama paper.  AGSB and AGSBAAI are keen in paving the way for you to fulfill your dream of earning an MBA degree.

Your initial step would be to write to the AGSB Registrar, Dr. Cesar Mansibang at cmansibang@aps.ateneo.edu expressing your desire to have your degree completed.  Include your resume and circumstances (e.g., you are currently based in a foreign country) to facilitate the process of evaluating your particular situation and detailing the pathway for you to take to get your MBA.  The pathway will likely include enrolling at specific core subjects and electives and completing (write and defend) a Strama paper.  Your comprehensive resume (detailing your career and professional trajectory over the years) is particularly important because it will help in identifying the focus of the remedial subjects that you will need to take.  Also, note that CHED has a prescription period of five years after which subjects previously taken are considered stale requiring refresher courses for re-accreditation and residency.

The requirements may turn out to be formidable but you will be glad to know that you will likely be asked to enroll in AGSB’s accelerated Regis program, thus completing the requirements in a shorter time frame compared with doing the same in the Standard program.  Furthermore, within 2009, you may have the opportunity to enroll in courses that will be conducted online as well as defending your paper online, if physical presence in the school becomes a handicap.

Rockwell Alumni Blue Room

The Rockwell Alumni Blue Room is located on the 2nd floor of the APS Building, same floor as the AGSB office and classrooms.  As an alumnus of Ateneo, you may use the Blue Room for activities that must be directly related to the school or alumni cause.  Please write to Ms. Lara Chuavon at vchuavon@ateneo.edu of the Office of the University Development and Alumni Relations at the Ateneo de Manila University in Loyola and/or via fax to 426-6080, stating the day, time period, and the nature of activity.  You may send a copy of your request to agsbaai@aps.ateneu.edu so we can assist in facilitating your request.  Food requirements will have to be arranged separately with the school canteen.

Topic for Strategic Management (STRAMA) Paper

Are you interested in having the company you own or you work for be the topic of a Strategic Management paper?  If you are, your company will be included in a pool of available topics which will be offered to AGSB graduating students who are/will be looking for a topic for their Strama research and defense.  If your company is chosen, you should be willing to provide the relevant company data (marketing, operational, financial) needed to proceed with the research.  The student may be asked to issue appropriate confidentiality agreements including restrictions on the release of the final paper.  You will of course be rewarded with a copy of the Strama paper which hopefully will be used by your organization for planning purposes.  If you are interested, please direct your inquiries to rconsunji@aps.ateneo.edu.

Electives

Starting with the 1st Term of school year 2008-2009, AGSB is expanding its offerings on electives, initially in IT to be followed with Operations Management in the next term.  These offerings would provide an opportunity for our alumni to return to AGSB and enroll in these electives not only to update themselves in the areas covered by these electives but, more importantly, be able to acquire sufficient units to earn a major or emphasis area in his or her MBA. After completing these electives, he or she will be awarded a Certification of Emphasis Area, i.e. IT, Finance, etc.  Please direct your inquiries to cmansibang@aps.ateneo.edu.

Security Warning: E-mail "Phishing" Scam

To:  AGSB Alumni and Students

AGSB alumni and students were recently the object of a phishing and email hacking attack.

Phishing (pronounced "fishing" as in "fishing for information") is a type of deception designed to steal one's personal data such as credit card numbers, passwords, account login information, etc. The phishing email usually looks like an official letter from a trusted source, such as a bank, credit card company, payment processor, or online merchant. Phishing emails normally direct recipients to a fraudulent website where they are asked to provide personal information. This information is then used for identity theft.

The perpetrator is using an e-mail account which was hacked and commonly requesting for financial request or assistance.  The email message is being distributed using the contact list of the hacked account.

Remember that AGSB or AGSBAAI will NEVER request for sensitive financial information and assistance using e-mail or through any online instant messaging facility.  As a precautionary measure, we suggest that you change your email and online banking password regularly.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Right to Privacy

AGSBAAI have been receiving inquiries regarding potential job opportunities.  One of the frequent requests is to provide business entities a list of AGSB graduates along with contact information.  Although we have your contact and other information in our database, we wish to provide balance between protecting your privacy and giving a timely response to such requests.  Thus, unless we receive instruction from you to do otherwise, we will release information limited to your name, program taken, year graduated, email address and cellphone number.  If you prefer a different arrangement, e.g., full disclosure or no disclosure, send an email advice to agsbaai@aps.ateneo.edu.   If at any time in the future, you wish to change this arrangement, all you have to do is send us a superseding email.
